Help/Leads
Leads, privacy and deletion
Who holds your leads, what readers agree to, how anyone can remove their details, and what happens when your plan ends.
The people who sign up are your leads. We hold their details on your behalf, to deliver what they asked for and show them to you.
What readers agree to
Under every form is a line naming you: "Your name may follow up by email. Unsubscribe any time.", with a link to your privacy policy. We store that line word for word with each lead, with the time they agreed. It is in your export.
Three ways a lead is deleted
All three delete the same thing, at once and for good:
- The reader. Every email we send them has a Remove my details link. It opens a page with a button, so a mail scanner opening the link can't delete anyone by accident.
- You. Delete on a lead, on Leads or All leads.
- Us. If someone emails us asking, we delete them.
When a reader removes their details, your next morning summary names them, so you can delete any copy you exported or added to your own lists. Those copies are yours to delete; we can't reach them.
A free service request's files are deleted with it.
If your plan ends
The form comes off your site on the next page load. Your leads stay on Leads for 30 days so you can export them, and we email you a week before they are deleted. Restarting your plan within that time keeps them and puts your lead magnet back.
If a payment fails, nothing comes off while it is being sorted out. If you pause your plan, the form comes off until you restart, and your leads are kept.
Deleting a site deletes its lead magnets and its leads.
Moving from Growth to Core
Core includes one lead magnet. We keep the one that brought the most leads live and pause the others, and Leads tells you which. Make this the live one on a paused one swaps them. Moving back to Growth puts the paused ones back. Every lead stays either way.
