Logging in, and why there is no password after you buy
Login links, passwords, Google sign-in, and the account a purchase creates.
The account your purchase created
Buying through checkout creates your account on the email you paid with, with no password. The login page recognises a paid email and opens on "Your account is already set up", with one button that emails you a login link. Typing a password into the sign-up form on that email does nothing, which is why the page steers you to the link instead.
Login links
A link logs you in with one click and expires after a while. It opens a page with a button rather than logging you in on arrival, because some mail apps open links before you do and would spend it. If a link has expired, request a fresh one. After a link login you are offered a password for next time; skip it and links keep working.
Continue with Google works when the Google account uses the same email your plan is on. A different email lands in an empty account.
Gmail plus addresses
If you bought with an address like name+tag@gmail.com, the link in your welcome email may arrive with a space where the plus was. The login page repairs that, but if a link fails, type the address with the plus by hand.
Forgotten password
Reset from the login page. If no email arrives within a few minutes, there may be no account on that address; try the email you paid with.
