Putting the form on your site

The one line to paste, where it goes on each platform, sending it to whoever runs your site, and how the form behaves.

The form comes from one line of code that you paste once. It loads on every page, and shows only on your articles.

Before you start: your privacy policy

The form needs a link to your privacy policy, because the people who sign up become your leads and you are responsible for them. Add the address on Your business, or when Put it on your site asks for it. If your site already has one, we suggest it.

Three ways to do it

  • I'll add it myself. Copy the line and follow the steps for your platform below.
  • Send the steps to whoever runs my site. We email them the line, the steps for your platform and a page that ticks over when it works. They don't need an account.
  • Just the PDF for now. For a guide we wrote: download it and use it with any form you already have. The steps stay here for later.

Where the line goes

  • WordPress: install the free WPCode plugin, open Code Snippets, Header & Footer, paste the line into the Footer box and save.
  • Wix: Settings, Custom code (needs a paid Wix plan). Add Custom Code, paste the line, choose All pages and Body end, then Apply.
  • Squarespace: Settings, Advanced, Code Injection (Business plan or higher). Paste the line into Footer and save.
  • Webflow: Site settings, Custom code. Paste the line into Footer code, save, then publish the site.
  • Shopify: Online Store, Themes, the three dots, Edit code. Open theme.liquid and paste the line just above </body>. Save.
  • Anything else: paste the line just before </body> on every page, or into your site's footer code setting. A tag manager works too.

How we know it's working

Open any article on your site. The moment the line loads, Put it on your site ticks over and we email you. We check what your site actually loads, not what its code says, so it works however the line was added.

How the form behaves

  • On articles only. Pages with real reading on them. Never your homepage, contact, cart, checkout, account or thank-you pages.
  • The box sits above the third heading of the article. It is only added while that heading is still further down the page, so nothing the reader is looking at moves.
  • The popup opens halfway down the article, once per visitor. On phones it is a bar at the bottom instead.
  • No cookies, no tracking. The form sets no cookies and sends no visitor ID. The only thing it keeps is a note in the reader's own browser that the popup was already shown.

If your site already runs a popup tool, we notice and set ours to the box only. You can change that, and the rest, under Form and email settings on Leads.

Counting sign-ups in your ads

If your site runs the Meta Pixel or Google Analytics, switch on Also count sign-ups and each sign-up is sent to them as a Lead, so your ads can count it.

Changes reach your site on their own

Edits on Leads, pausing, or switching which lead magnet shows reach your site within a minute or two, with nothing to paste again.
